‘Leda II’ is the continuation of ‘Leda’. I have had three children, but always thought I would have four. By the time my partner and I met it was already too late to have another and it took a little time in myself to make peace with this idea, and just at the time of settling into Germany and starting out to paint, I pondered on the idea that if we’d had a child, how it would have impacted our decision to move here.
The little swans or cygnets, depending on your point of view, are wearing the same patterns that I have used in other paintings. It is a representation that our own kids do grow into their own beingness, and into their own lives with decisions of their own to live by and with.
